The other day I was gushing over the Home Depot Garden Club and how they're right on time with their marketing initiative. This brings me to the rest of the landscaping and lawn care business owners, and how their busy season starts NOW. You want your fliers distributed and your post cards mailed out, your Calendar of Services typed up and ready to hit people's email inboxes. And hopefully, you're ready to announce offerings like spring cleanups, aerating and overseeding, and even garden bed preparation for those who would rather pay than get dirty.
A landscaping or lawncare blog is a really great way to get your name known around town, not just during growing season but year-round so you can really get the SEO working for you. Categories and post titles can be optimized not only for the town(s) you serve and the types of service you offer, but for any questions that people might be searching for.
A good example of this: someone in your town wants to know what trees grow best in the area. If you've been diligently posting to your landscaping blog and have covered this topic... when the searcher types that phrase or question into Google, you're the one he's going to find.
And maybe this won't turn into instant business... but next time he searches "tree pruning tips" - and there you are again. And then he wonders about the "heartiest breed of climber roses." Do you see how, over time, your name becomes a credible source of information? And come the day he decides, "I'm not pruning these apple trees myself," guess who he calls?
