Despite this, the whole point in blogging, obviously, is to
alert people to your talent or professional specialty. So let's say you're a
photographer. In that case, it means finding a way to bring the conversation
around to taking pictures. Now that I'm thinking about it, a blog leaves things
wide open for a photographer. You can ponder just about anything on your blog -
the weather, the changing seasons, children, dogs, the meaning of life, religion,
people and their quirks... and then post pictures (ideally, your own) to match
the topic.
But even if you're not a photographer, you can still learn how to "bring it back around." What you do is stop in the middle of your tirade, whatever it may be, and ask yourself, "how is this like what I do for a living?" For example, if I'm talking about how much fun it is to hang out with my friends' children, here's how I'd bring it back to copywriting. I'd say, "The best copywriters are child-like in that they're always asking questions, learning new things, and offering a 'show and tell' of their discoveries."
Try it now! Take a few minutes today to try the exercise above. Post it on your blog during 24 Blogging Days 'til Christmas from Wordfeeder.com Copywriting.
